Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about our services, compliance help, and how we work with carriers and owner-operators.

About Us
What does Logistics Assistance Now do?
We are a veteran- and women-owned logistics and transportation consulting firm. We help transportation businesses and independent contractors with DOT and FMCSA compliance, fleet safety and operations, supply chain and warehouse strategy, driver recruitment and onboarding, and business setup.
Who do you work with?
Two groups: transportation businesses (carriers and fleets) that need compliance, safety, and operational help, and independent contractors and owner-operators in final-mile, over-the-road, and medical delivery who need help starting and running a compliant, profitable business.
Do you only work with companies in Mississippi?
No. We are based in Hernando, Mississippi, in the Memphis metro, but our consulting is delivered remotely and we work with carriers and owner-operators nationwide.
Are you really veteran- and women-owned?
Yes. Our founder and CEO, Lisa Boerger, is a U.S. Air Force veteran with more than 30 years in logistics, and the firm is both veteran-owned and women-owned.
How much does it cost, and is the first consultation free?
Your first consultation is free. Engagements are scoped to what you actually need, so pricing depends on the work — reach out and we will give you a clear, honest picture before anything begins.
Do you offer one-time help or ongoing support?
Both. We do focused, one-time engagements such as audit prep or a compliance setup, and we do ongoing advisory relationships. We recommend whatever actually fits your situation rather than locking you into a retainer you do not need.
For Carriers & Fleets
Can you help us prepare for a DOT audit?
Yes. Our team includes a former Texas DPS officer and certified FMCSA instructor with 31 years of audit and inspection experience. We help you organize records, close gaps, and walk in prepared.
Can you help improve our CSA scores?
Yes. We diagnose which BASICs are driving your score and build the maintenance, coaching, and accountability systems that move it. One of our consultants reduced a 4,400-asset fleet's Crash BASIC from 82% to 23% in a year.
Do you help with the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse, DQ files, and ELD compliance?
Yes. We help carriers set up and maintain compliant programs across the Clearinghouse, driver qualification files, drug and alcohol testing, Hours of Service and ELDs, and the rest of the FMCSA requirements.
Can you help us recruit and keep drivers?
Yes. Our founder built national independent-contractor recruitment and onboarding programs. We help you build a recruiting, onboarding, and retention process that actually keeps drivers past the first 90 days.
I have a DOT audit coming up soon — can you still help?
Yes. Audit preparation is one of the most common reasons carriers call us, and we can move quickly to review your records, find the gaps, and get you ready. The sooner you reach out, the more we can do.
Do you help with hazmat operations?
Yes. We advise on hazmat endorsements, registration, placarding, and the compliance obligations of hauling hazardous materials — and we help you decide whether the added pay is worth the added cost and risk.
For Owner-Operators
I want to start a trucking business — can you help?
Yes. We walk new owner-operators through business setup, your USDOT number and operating authority, BOC-3 and insurance, ELD and compliance basics, and how to find freight. Our Insights blog also covers each step in detail.
Should I get my own authority or lease on?
It depends on your goals, capital, and tolerance for running the business side. We will give you an honest comparison for your situation rather than a one-size-fits-all answer.
Do you help final-mile and medical courier businesses?
Yes. Final-mile and medical delivery are areas our founder knows firsthand, from non-CDL cargo-van operations to HIPAA-aware medical courier work and the contracts behind them.
What is the difference between a USDOT number and an MC number?
Your USDOT number is a safety identifier the government uses to track your inspections, audits, and crash data. Your MC number is your operating authority — permission to haul regulated freight for hire across state lines. Most interstate for-hire carriers need both.
Can you help with IFTA and Form 2290?
Yes. We help owner-operators stay current on quarterly IFTA fuel-tax reporting and the annual Form 2290 Heavy Vehicle Use Tax, along with the UCR and MCS-150 filings that quietly cause problems when they lapse.
Getting Started
How do I get started?
Schedule a free consultation through our contact page or call us at (407) 878-8017. We will talk through where you are, what you need, and whether we are the right fit.
How are you different from a dispatch service or a compliance-filing website?
A filing site sells you a form and a dispatch service books your loads. We are advisors — we help you make the decisions behind those things, from how to structure your business to how to pass an audit, with decades of real operating and enforcement experience behind the advice.
